Demarkus Lewis – Soul of a Nation (Viva Recordings)

2021 is a year of new beginnings and renewed hope. Demarkus Lewis celebrates this by returning to Viva Recordings with an uplifting new single, “Soul of a Nation.” The track features all the elements of Demarkus’s patented, swirling deep house sound — tough, swinging rhythms, warm synth pads, and bouncing sub-bass. The inspiring addition to “Soul of a Nation” are the words of Kamala Harris, the first woman or person of color to hold the office of US Vice President. “Unite our country and heal the soul of our nation,” says Harris as the track takes hold. These words resonate throughout the house music community, a bonded family that knows all about coming together and celebrating diversity on the dancefloor. “Soul of a Nation” takes this message, musically, to the wider world, sending a prayer for sunnier days ahead.

For release 229 on Ready Mix Records, we welcome combat engineer turned music producer Veytik to the label with two gorgeous original cuts, plus remixes from Nōpi, Peter Makto and Hernan Cerbello.

A deep-thinking artist exploring the concept of music as therapy, Veytik’s title track ‘Time’ displays an impressive ability to communicate emotion through sound, with rumbling bass and a rolling rhythm providing a perfect counterweight to the track’s ethereal chords and vocal.

With work recently featured on Anjunadeep and All Day I Dream, we are delighted to bring Nōpi aboard for a characteristically melodic, uplifting and floaty rework of ‘Time’.

Founder of Truesounds Music, Peter Makto turns in a percussive yet understated version of ‘Time’, making great use of the vocal in its spine-tingling breakdown.

Argentinian hero Hernan Cerbello takes ‘Time’ in a more hypnotic direction, with woozy synths and a languid, chugging groove making for a delightfully dizzying atmosphere.

Second Veytik original ‘Andromeda’ closes out our package with a swung, wrong-footing beat that immediately captures the attention and holds onto it with an intriguing, techno-inspired arrangement.

Amine K feat Sami Chaouki – Burning My Shadows (Get Physical Music)

Get Physical Music welcome Amine K and Sami Chaouki to the label this coming February, as the pair prepare to release their latest collaboration, ‘Burning My Shadows’.

DJ, producer and touring artist Amine K remains an advocate at the forefront of Morocco’s electronic music scene, with releases to date on Los Angeles imprint Sol Selectas and Alex Niggemann’s AEON imprint. As a DJ, he has toured across the globe at some of the industry’s most prestigious events including Boiler Room Dubai and ADE, whilst hosting a series of live streams for Beatport and Abracadabra TV’s virtual festivals. February sees Amine K collaborate with Montreal-based vocalist Sami Chaouki for the very first time on their stunning new single, ‘Burning My Shadows’.

‘Burning My Shadows’ is a raw and alluring deep house affair, fuelled by loose drums, dazzling percussive elements, and warped effects. Sami Chaouki’s soulful and exquisite vocals build the foundations to this powerful dancefloor offering.

This is a tasteful release from both exceptionally talented artists, and another surefire winner for the ever-impressing Get Physical label.
