Third Attempt – On Tonight (Beatservice Records)
Third Attempt is Torje Fagertun Spilde, a 20 year old artist and DJ originally from Asker, just outside of Oslo. Now established in Tromsø , Norway, he is one of the young forces in the rising new generation of electronic producers from the birthplace of the Northern Disco Groove.
Third Attempt has a distinct and uplifting flavor, firmly planted in the smoother areas of deep house. His influences range from jazz to ambient, trip hop to classic house. Third Attempt’s Beatservice single, “Shoreline,” accumulated numerous accolades and tens of thousands of plays on various streaming platforms.
This new Beatservice double A-side single opens with “On Tonight” which takes old school sounds and transports them to modern club sets. A funky bass bounce is complemented with squelchy synth lines and an atmospheric, submerged breakdown section. It’s all driven by an insistent rhythm track to keep the floor in motion. “Loading Music” introduces a shuffling breakbeat that anchors jazzy electric piano chords and more analog synth fun. The result is dreamy but propulsive, potentially inspiring introspective dance floor moments. Another winning single from Third Attempt!

Kerem Gell – Vaveyla (Ready Mix Records)
February 4th 2019 (Beatport Exclusive)
February 18th 2019 (Worldwide)
Turkish producer Kerem Gell returns to Ready Mix Records with his latest ‘Vaveyla EP’ including two new original tracks: ‘Vaveyla’ and ‘African Children’, with remixes from Holed Coin and Kiano & Below Bangkok.
Opening track ‘Vaveyla’ features complex sitar melodies interwoven with moody synths and Eastern vocals over a heavyweight rhythm section, adding up to a unique and dramatic soundscape.
The Dub Mix of ‘Vaveyla’ strips away the vocal flourishes and introduces subtle arpeggios to drive the track forward, ramping up both the energy and intensity.
Kerem’s second original track ‘African Children’ builds an ethereal, slo-mo atmosphere, blending a compelling patchwork of Eastern and Western influences while merging electronic and acoustic sounds.
Brilliant live electronic act Holed Coin provides the first remix of ‘African Children’, adding his own unique, languid and somewhat melancholic style to the track with live piano and strings.
Kiano & Below Bangkok transform ‘African Children’ into a mellow house tune, introducing heavier drums and rhythmic synths. The duo also turn in a Dub version, which creates an airy, free-flowing groove for discerning dance-floors.
Javed Brothers feat Static Cosmonaut – Thoughts Of You (Oh So Coy Records)
Newcomers to the scene Dan & Rohail make moody, stripped back house as the Javed Brothers. Here they debut with “Thoughts Of You” a tripped out cut featuring the vocal musings of Static Cosmonaut. Super clean rhythms permeate dreamy chords and a hazy piano melody.
Remixes come courtesy of G Spice who adds a more uplifting touch, Magnus Asberg with his darker tech edges and Micronoise who turns this into a pumping bass heavy workout.
