Chanwill Maconi – Black Reality (Rogue Decibels Records)
Chanwill Maconi opens 2020 for Rogue with his standout single ‘Black Reality’. Slower and deeper with classic vibes make this one for the trainspotters. The 4 remixes in the pack make sure there’s something for everyone.
Random Fact joins us again with an aquatic dub excursion, Jude Brown also makes a return with his bouncing west coast styled cut, label regular Prince Ivyson turns in a hypnotic afterhours rub and finally – making his debut is Kvrvbo with a more percussive groove led mix.
Arnold from Mumbai – Roots (Get Physical Music)
After first appearing on the ‘India Gets Physical album’, Arnold From Mumbai’s ‘Roots’ now gets a standalone single release with remixes from Pezzner, Alexander Robotnik and PALMFooD.
High energy and infectious enthusiasm are some of the adjectives that are synonymous with the name Arnold Misquitta, who is fondly known as Arnold from Mumbai and is a key player in his local scene, now making global moves.
In original form, ‘Roots’ is a perfect warm deep house cut. Organic guitar licks brush up next to finger clicks and late-night chords that are smooth and sumptuous. It’s feelgood and groovy and a surefire floor-filler thanks to the subtle string samples.
First to remix is Alexander Robotnick, the legendary Italian producer who excels at anything from Italo-disco to electro and gets played by the likes of Gerd Janson, Dixon and Peggy Gou. His version layers in cosmic arps that really take you on a trip and grow ever more acidic and loose limbed.
After his Bogogan EP on this label at the end of January, Vienna based PALMFooD returns with a fresh remix. It is a magical rework that shows off PALMFooD’s mastery of his synths – they ring out to the heavens in celestial fashion as the slick groove rolls below.
Last of all, long-time associate and master sonic craftsman Pezzner serves up the remix he started his Body Language compilation with. It is slow-burning to start with but transforms into a lush, jazz laced and dreamy bit of melodic deep house.
These are four varied remixes that bring plenty of great perspectives to the heartwarming original.

Tidy Daps – Breathe EP (Oh So Coy Recordings)
Our favourite Polish producers are back!

Two tracks very different in sound and nature.
‘Breathe’ offers a dub based excursion with shuffling percussion, heavy bass and a trippy vocal.

NODEN – Skinner EP (LIFTIN Records)
Release Date – 10 April 2020
With NODEN’s “Skinner” EP we have a three track selection of dancefloor dynamite. Soul / Disco reworked and inspired by the smooth and warm sound of the original records.
The EP is one built to represent the sound NODEN plays in their set and gives a taste of the varying styles of their production.
From the brassy grandeur of 1976, to the rugged soul of Skinners House groove this EP really has a lot to offer. Not least to mention the deep burning House cut Tarek which closes out the record.
Artist Bio: NODEN are house and disco duo Ollie Harvey and Dave O’Leary. The long-time collaborators created their NODEN alias in 2019 after being asked to spin some of their collection of classic house and disco records on Friday nights at their London Local. The Friday Night Sessions went down a storm and proved the catalyst for a year that saw their horizons rapidly expanding. With the release of their first two singles, a debut album under their belts and a busy gigging schedule, the boys are bringing their own uplifting spin on house and disco to an audience well beyond their local boozer. Their energetic DJ sets put the emphasis firmly of getting people moving and showcase a broad taste in feel-good grooves; ranging from classic house to choice disco cuts and everything in between.
2020 has seen them hunkered down in the studio, with a number of releases scheduled for the first half of the year. Their own productions take inspirations from Chicago House alongside mid-noughties Nu-Disco and are crafted to reflect the kind of driving energetic records that fill their DJ sets. The upcoming “Skinner EP” perfectly encapsulates the range of styles on offer in their productions. The three cuts span 60’s disco to rolling ambient house, but all featuring similar nods to the soul and disco classics they love.
Artist Quote: four to five lines about the record
– ” With this release we wanted to put something out that reflected the kind of records we’re currently playing in our DJ sets. The EP is made up of three cuts that are stylistically very different, but all feature similar nods to the soul and disco classics we’re currently loving. EP opener “1976” is a straight up disco groover, built to get people moving on the dance floor. Second track “Skinner” takes you in a slightly heavier disco house direction, and closer “Tarek” is a rumbling soulful cut designed for the early hours of the morning”
