Spennu – Essence of Life (Haute Musique)
July 6th 2020 (Traxsource Exclusive)
July 20th 2020 (Worldwide)
Haute Musique are very excited to welcome back one of Turkey’s most prolific deep house producers Spennu aka Sezer Uysal for our 44th release. Spennu delivers a grooving, classically sounding deep house Original tune named ‘Essence of Life’.
On remix duties, Miami’s Dan.K delivers a warmer stripped down version, making good use of the vocals during the break while keeping the essence of the Original embedded in his rework.
Kali. G – Lost In India EP (Wind Horse Records)
During uncertain times, music will always be a saviour that transcends boundaries. With this in mind, we once again welcome one of the most prolific contributors to the Wind Horse Records and an artist who needs no introduction – Kali G. The sonic fabricator from Morocco fashions another essential four-tracker called ‘Lost In India’, in his aural image. The Ep stems from his many travels to the Asian region and is his way of giving back to a country that has inspired him as an artist. This also happens to be his 5th release of musical works on our label and is right up there with the rest!
Inspired by his many visits to the spiritual peninsula, Kali G’s first track ‘Flute In G’
Begins with a rapid – kick-drum, snare, and hi-hat groove that’s interspersed with traditional vocals from a classical musician. As the track grows, a low-ended bassline breaks through, lending the track a sharp character that immediately gets you to take notice. Stabs of traditional Indian flutes meet with cosmic synth keys to make up the greater portion of the track. As the song progresses, this duopoly gains prominence leading into an extremely well-constructed breakdown that also includes smart bassline modulations that definitely raise the level of suspense and expectancy. A simple, yet powerful no-nonsense tune that can hype up any crowd of listeners.
The well-travelled DJ/producer Marcelo Cura uses his arsenal of international exposure and experiences adds a twist to the original with a minimalistic approach, to begin with, in his remix. Retaining the percussive vibe and morphing the bassline subtly, he manages to simplify the track to make it spew groove. The addition of ethereal and mesmeric atmospheres lends the track an inescapable excitement that powers the listener through. The track retains these flavours as it stamps its own identity while managing to remain a powerful mover. Less is certainly more in this case as the rework spins a web of brilliant sounds that instigates a reaction, forcing listeners to move and shake. Don’t be surprised to hear this bomb being dropped at a stream near you, sometime soon!
Kali G’s next offering on ‘Lost in India’ is C- Thar, a joyful auditory representation of the instrument Sitar and ‘Thar’ region in India – a desert that is often an oasis for folk culture and ethnic sounds. The track begins with a familiar rhythm that consists of a raspy kick-drum accompanied by intricate percussions that lend an organic aura. As we move deeper into the offering, an emotive strum of a stringed instrument comes into focus acting as an accomplice to the notorious groove that’s been construed. A lush, galactic pad joins the mix and helps complete the majority of the track. The beautiful symbiosis of modern electronic sensibilities meets age-old melodies, that certainly echo the inspiration that it was drawn out from. We’re pretty sure this one might move up on your playlists!
Rounding off another excellent EP by the middle-eastern messiah is a remix of ‘C- Thar’ by none other than label boss, owner, and inspirer in chief – Hamza Rahimtula. The veteran producer lands a critical strike with his rendition of the single that can be best described as ‘diabolically groovy’. The track begins unsuspectingly with a simple arrangement of a kick-drum, hi-hats, and a well-designed conga-esque sound that helps retain the local ‘flavour’ of the track. As the tune builds and several intelligent elements fill up space, our collective attentions turn toward the incredibly bouncy bassline that greets us with full force. As is his style, Hamza immaculately details the remix with swooping transitions and shards of funk. Another feather in the cap of an incredible composer and a brilliant way to round off another explosive EP by Kali G.

CUE is known for finding and promoting young talents, Juzz from Zürich is one of these ones. Listening or creating? Giuseppe Azzato aka Juzz has never considered these two words as a decision-making. Further, listening and creating were two parts of a development process for him. 90’s Hiphop and Techno were the foundations of a requirement that was growing more and more from this moment on : not only to experience music and its culture, but also create it. His atlantic ep contains 3 tracks which reflects exactly these roots, groove, straightness without being boring. This is really a great debut for Juzz on CUE!

Metatext – Sounds of Meditation (Get Physical Music)
Get Physical welcome hot German artist Metatext for a new package that features remixes from Troja and August Artier.
Hamburg’s Metatext has built a reputation for his dubby and groove infused house sounds on labels like WAYU, Magician on Duty and KELLER. He shows off his skills here with the excellent ‘Sounds of Meditation’, a deep and atmospheric track with dubbed out swagger, reggae drum fills and the sort of warmth that really draws you in. Add in some well-deployed vocals and hits and rim shots that echo off to infinity and you have a truly irresistible groove.
Troja is a producer and DJ from India who over the last few years has developed a strong following around the world. His remix is darker initially, but then layers in some loose and languid instrumental sounds and colourful pads to make for a nice open-air soundtrack that will unite any party.
Last but not least, August Artier’s journey to his current home of Ibiza came after a youth growing up in the suburbs of Sydney Australia. This means he brings world influences to his beats on labels like Kindisch and Deeperfect. Here he keeps the dub feelings high, but speeds up the drums and adds delicate shakers and warped synths to make it fatter and more fluid for the higher energy points in the night.
This is a tasteful package of timeless dub house on Get Physical Music.
