Magik Deep – Howard Slay Queen (Sound Vessel Records)
Debuting with SVR, Magik Deep is bringing in the magical vibes of deep house. His original is hypnotic and groovy. The remix from Becanoe Da Voe is more on the uplifting part of the music and DJ Ndo-C is amazingly smooth as it can get. The final Remix by Dave-Eaux is more underground with some tech elements to it.

01. Same Light
02. Same Light (Hernan Cattaneo & Martin Garcia Remix)
03. Same Light (Erdi Irmak Remix)
XYZ is a label set up by the team behind the When We Dip blog and its sound focuses towards melodic grooves and ambient moods, where intricate melodies meet club-friendly percussion.
The new release is from Mitch Oliver and Maaruo who are key figures in Montreal club scene. Each of the producers have already made important strides with solo releases including Mitch’s EP for Magician On Duty, and Maaruo’s remix of Budakid already put out by XYZ. Their collaborative track “Corne Mistur” was also released by Akbal Music.
Alongside the solo original track called “Same Light” there is also a heavyweight remix pack featuring Hernan Cattaneo who is one of the world’s best known melodic house DJ’s, famous for his many compilation CD’s and tracks on labels like Einmusika, Balance Music and Renaissance. Martin Garcia collaborates with Hernan Cattaneo having worked on remixes together for Bedrock previously.
Also contributing a remix is Erdi Irmak who is one of Turkey’s most accomplished electronic music producers using rich melodies and tribal percussion that has been a feature of labels like Magician On Duty and Tale & Tone.
With a poignant emotion and stunning vocal, this avant-garde release is melodic deep house at its most eloquent.
Kennedy & The Stoned – Cold EP (Oh So Coy Recordings)
Kennedy has been apart of New Zealand’s Bass Culture since the mid 90’s and here joins forces with The Stoned – a father and son duo out of San Antonio, Texas (Josh Stone and Josh Stone Jr).
3 low slung dirty numbers that’ll fire up your floor anytime.
Rashid Ajami – Dark City (Get Physical Music)
Rashid Ajami takes care of Get Physical’s next stunning house offering, with new single ‘Dark City’ featuring remixes from long time maestro Atjazz.
Ajami is a busy man with credits on key labels like Noir Music, Anjunadeep and Ministry of Sound. He is also the founder of The Happiness Technique, which encourages people to process painful emotions in transformative ways. He certainly provides plenty of solace with his music, and this new single is a perfect example of that.
The enticingly moody ‘Dark City’ has aching male vocals drifting over a mournful house groove. There is warmth in the keys, and plenty of space in the arrangement in which to get lost. It is a terrifically tender track that brings real class to house music.
Remixing is the ever popular Atjazz, who has been synonymous with lush jazz house, lounge styles and labels like Mantis and Atjazz Record Company for decades. He brings all his studio wizardry to a remix that bubbles with electronic soul and wavy grooves. His lithe synths add extra colour and make things more upbeat, while an Astro Dub is even more elastic and groovy for intimate late night dancing.
This is another timeless house package from Get Physical.
Kryptogram – Krypt.vol1 (Kryptogram Records)
Release Track list:
1. Choreography (Dub)
2. Growing Apart
4. Feel The Heat
5. WKBJ 106.9FM (Interlude)
6. The Neighborhood
8. It Feels Like
“The krypt. vol1 is a mixtape-like EP with a bunch of tracks I made the last half-year, year or so. A crypt, defined, is an underground vault holding the remains of a person – so I wanted to title this series of EPs as krypt’s, given that they’re sort of my vault of tracks I’ve played out at shows, etc. The genres vary from garage to house, to a bit of experimentation with new genres and breaks. A volume 2 will be released in the fall as well.”

Tommy Heron – Because of You (Huge Music Records)
Huge Music Records amp up the summer vibes with a tasty debut for the label from London’s Tommy Heron. ‘Because of You’ is deep and chic with a distinct 80’s flavour, made up of lush airy synths that float over an Italo style bass and a punchy power-groove. Also on the package are remixes from Tom Chubb, who works up a feel good Nu Disco vibe, adding catchy piano hooks and a funky bass; Southside Son turns up the heat with a sublime treat for the Deep House heads; and blindB offers up a blissed-out Broken Beat remix complete with spellbinding jazzy keys and sweeping string hooks.
“‘Because of You’ is a bit of a different vibe to what I usually produce as I got a little tired of sampling the 70s Disco records I usually use and wanted to try to create something more from scratch. I wanted to make something which had a bit of everything 80s in it; an Italo feel with some nice layered synth and a few heavily reverbed snares. I had a lot of fun making it. The remixes are bang on as well, really taking the track off in totally different directions” – Tommy Heron
Tommy Heron is a London based DJ & Producer, whose career has spanned over 21 years. There’s very little Tommy’s not seen as a DJ – from regularly playing at the legendary Turnmills, to holding an ongoing 18 year residency at the infamous London based Funk Me parties – as well as setting up his own Ibiza night with Firas from Waze & Odyssey.
