Bollo & Chapter feat Jocelyn Brown – Black Skin Blue Eyed Boys (SoulHouse Music)

SoulHouse head-honcho Brian Power collaborates with Ibiza-based production duo Bollo & Chapter to put a modern-day twist on this early 70s funk classic. Originally penned by Eddy Grant (as a founding member of The Equals, one of the UK’s first racially united music groups), Bollo first transformed ‘Black Skin Blue Eyed Boys’ into a house track back in 2015, with the shrewd addition of Jocelyn Brown’s powerful and instantly distinguishable vocals; with the additional accompaniment of a DJ Spen remix. More recently, Scott Gray (aka Chapter) from Ibiza-famed club brand ‘Melon Bomb’ asked Bollo if they could collaborate on a fresh rework. Their resulting afrobeat remix breathes new life into the track, complementing Brian’s soulful house interpretation to perfection, with Ronnie Herel’s unreleased dub completing this credible 3-track EP.

“When Scott approached me about remixing this track it, was a no-brainer! Great lyrics with Eddie Grant and Jocelyn Brown on vocals, we really feeling it and I think that transcends into the remix.” – Brian Power

Although he has been involved in music at all levels from DJ to promoter, UK producer / DJ Brian Power only launched his studio career in recent years, swiftly gaining top name DJ support on his musical output on his now popular SoulHouse Music label. Brian has collaborated and released with artists such as including Rebecca Scales, Lifford, Tony Econimides, Mike Patto, Shiv, Ali Tennant, Ronnie Herel and more, enlisting top remixers including Eric Kupper, N’Dinga Gaba, Booker T, DJ Spen & Gary Hudgins and Richard Earnshaw, Mark Di Meo and Opolopo, among others. Brian’s impressive debut album ‘Brian Power presents SoulHouse Vol. 1’, was released earlier this year, featuring top soulful artists including Marc Avon Evans, Mike Delgado, Adriana, Lloyd Wade, among others. His most recent releases including ‘Can We Pretend’ with Kathy Kosins and ‘To Feel Your Grace’ with Michelle John (incl. Klevakeys and Mike Delgado Remixes) have gained huge support from the global soulful house fraternity. With a plethora of new collaborations in the pipeline, 2018 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for Brian!

Jesse Saunders feat DANiiVORY – Kaleidoscope (Broken Records)

Credited with producing the first house record, Jesse Saunders returns on Broken Records with former Imagine Dragons and Beyonce touring band member DANiiVORY to deliver “Kaleidoscope”, a breathtakingly beautiful song. Ivory & Saunders’ track is an exercise in what is possible when artists with real history come together in the studio. It encapsulates a vision of beautiful sunsets, terraces and soulshine.

The single boasts a heavy hitting cast of all star remixers, sure to inspire sets far into the future. Grin Music head honcho Demarkus Lewis drops and delivers his low-key “Afro Remix” that weaves soft tribal drums throughout. Chicago mainstay Stacy Kidd’s “House 4 Life Remix” contributes to the package with a jazzy lounge / house hybrid, complete with meandering piano lines and a seductive groove. One of the greats and also hailing from the Windy City, Paul Johnson, delivers a peak hour driver with his “Tech HouseNation Remix”. Australia’s VMS (Queen Victoria) rounds it out and hits it hard with her “Down Under Remix”, a bass heavy, peak hour romp suitable for big rooms and prime time dance floors. All of the remixes reflect the brilliance of the original, and “Kaleidoscope” has a little something for everyone, while staying true to the aesthetic and feel of intended vibe.

Cioz – Lucky Man EP (Get Physical Music)

Italian renegade Cioz is welcomed to Get Physical with two terrific new tracks that showcase his rich style. Cioz is utterly self-taught so never adheres to any rules. This lends his music an unpredictable and original quality that has led to artists like Super Flu, Andhim and Solomun all supporting him in the past. Cioz has also founded Knobs Bergamo; a community-based creative hub in Bergamo (Italy) where artists unite, collaborate, develop ideas and create. Following on from outings on the likes of Monaberry and Einmusika he now comes correct on the German giant, Get Physical Music. Majestic opener ‘Lucky Shot’ is an epic eight-minute journey into deep, rubbery drums and brilliantly loose and expressive synth lines. They do real gymnastics over the course of the track, with smeared pads, more dynamic chords and soul infused lines bringing plenty of warmth and colour to this groovy number. The careful addition of some female vocal sounds help elevate it yet further and will surely win the hearts of dancers everywhere. The supple ‘Cookie Man’ is another absorbing, deep and atmospheric house track with cleverly interwoven rhythmic and musical layers. The drums sashay about and get your hips moving, the lead synth is a curious one that makes the mind wander and the whole thing exudes real colour and soul to make it an immediately loveable track. These are two tasteful and characterful tunes from an ever more essential talent.

MKay – The Beginning EP (Ready Mix Records)

Release Date:
September 10th 2018 (Beatport Exclusive)
September 24th 2018 (Worldwide)

MKAY returns to Ready Mix Records, home of his debut release in 2017, with a brand new EP featuring remixes from Bobby Deep, Adrian Pricope, Thomas Courribet and Salski.

Known to his friends as Moe Ismael, emerging Lebanese producer MKAY is quickly building a reputation for his evocative, melodic productions. Opening track ‘The Beginning’ unfolds steadily, revealing a smooth deep progressive groove, mournful chords and shimmering middle-eastern strings.

An artist with over 500 production credits to his name, Bobby Deep expertly re-imagines ‘The Beginning’, layering up drone-like chords over tribal drums to build a heady sonic atmosphere.

Last up to rework ‘The Beginning’, Romanian producer and ‘SleepNot!’ sound-system founder Adrian Pricope delivers a teasing arrangement, complete with an utterly blissful breakdown.

Second original track ‘Lion’s Parade’ combines fragmented synth melodies with rolling drums and swirling atmospheres to great effect, creating an airy yet deeply rooted vibe.

Respected DJ and producer Thomas Courribet provides the first remix of ‘Lion’s Parade’, ramping up the intensity with a peak time dark-techno behemoth; one for the late night steppers.

Finally, our old friend Salski turns in a warm and meditative version of ‘Lion’s Parade’, using polished sub-bass as a wonderful counter-weight for soaring synths.
