VA – Blanche III (When We Dip XYZ)

When We Dip’s record label XYZ starts 2023 with a new release in its Blanche series which showcases emerging artists with a deep and melodic style.

Erdi Irmak contributes two tracks alongside solo productions from Gadi Mitrani, Monarke and Tyler Mesa. There is also a collaborative track by Bross (RO) and VICTHOR.

Many of the artists have already been featured on XYZ along with other scene-leading record labels such as All Day I Dream, TRYBESof, Pipe & Pochet, Seven Villas, Hoomidaas, Do Not Sit and Akbal Music.

This six-track release presents a selection of artists who are expected to make waves in 2023. The tracks cover a range of melodic styles with ethereal atmospherics, organic percussion and heart-warming melodies.

The Aquatic People – A Dancer’s Guide EP (Paille Records)

The Aquatic People return to Paille Records with a stunning three-tracker. ‘A Dancer’s Guide’ brings forward a driving rhythm alongside soulful keys and synths licks underlining swanky vocal chops. The result is a cut with a whole lot of swing.

‘Black Note Rhythm’ is a classic from the get-go. Straight drums, movement-inducing percussion, and spacey pads are all takes for a beautiful dance floor warm-up. on the flip side, The Aquatic People provides an extended rework of ‘Black Note Rhythm’. Harder drums, a steady groove, and soulful vocal chops turn this gem into a versatile dance floor track.

Ilias Katelanos – Mkoko (Remixes) (Lovezone Records)

Lovezone wishes all a wonderful & musical new year in full conscience.

After 2021 summer release of Makoko Ep from Ilias Katelanos, talented producers aboard Lovezone have sent us their own visions of track Makoko. Beautiful remixes from Forteba and John Gregory (a new Lovezone remixer artist from UK) for the label 2023 fresh release.

Groove Armada – Rescue Me (Get Physical Music)

Get Physical Music revisits Groove Armada’s 2014 hit ‘Rescue Me’ and serves it up with a Roland Leesker edit as well as an all-new remix from DJ Island.

‘Rescue Me’ was part of the iconic British dance duo’s Stairwell Felony EP and has remained an underground favourite. The original is raw, deep and full of twists and turns from the frazzled melodies to the jazzy sax motifs. The house drums hit hard with splintered edges, while a 90s bassline brings the heady vibe as a classic soul vocal lights up a track that is always keeping you guessing.

The excellent remix comes from DJ Island, one-half of Get Physical duo Monkey Safari and a long-time student of house music. His version is more tense and restyled with a tech house feel. The steamy vocals tease and please before the big drums drop and classic piano chords bring the colour to an emotive ride

Roland Leesker’s You Got To Dance Edit goes bigger still – the chords get more twisted, the drums are supersized and the crunchy hits burst out of the speakers to make an immediate impact. At the breakdown, things take a wonderful left turn with a trippy whistle and big chanting male vocals that take things to another level entirely.

This is a trio of fresh house cuts all designed for slightly different moments in the night.
