VA – Déepalma EP Vol. 10 (Déepalma Records)

The first of several multi-artist releases on Déepalma is set to drop this February featuring a host of label favourites. The tenth edition of Déepalma’s self-titled VA series includes tracks from Yves Murasca, Rosario Galati, Ucha, Alex Lo Faro and Nebs Jack.

Opening the release, a stunning instrumental version of Yves Murasca & Rosario Galati’s ‘Love This Life’ feat. Karolyn Haze dazzles with a flurry of nonchalant grooves, loose percussive elegance, resonant melodic layers and dreamy string arrangements – providing the perfect melting pot to dissolve into.

Ucha’s ‘Shosholoza’ comes next, turning up the tempo somewhat with its deepened driving cadence and hypnotic character. A rolling cut with non-invasive rhythms and swirling harmonies from the outset, carrying another impressive display of brass work throughout its enchanting journey.

Nebs Jack is next up with ‘Elegija’, keeping the focus firmly on captivating musicality and organic instrumental flair. Its endless sea of masterfully constructed hand-struck percussion lays the foundation for exotic tones and emotive melodies to flow over the top, creating an escapist atmosphere driven by beautiful piano lines and sweeping pads.

Alex Lo Faro’s ‘Es Vedra’ rounds off the release with pulsating balearic flavours from the off. Carefree rhythms and reverberating synths form the beating heart of the track, guided along by frequent injections of spellbinding electronic guitar riffs.

2023 marks an impressive milestone for Déepalma Records as they prepare to celebrate their tenth anniversary this year. The label has gone from strength to strength over the last decade, welcoming releases from some of the best-known artists on the planet whilst also helping springboard some of the industry’s most promising talents.

To celebrate ten years of Déepalma, the imprint will release a set of special anniversary singles throughout the year, along with two extra-special editions of its renowned seasonal compilation series, packed with a wealth of the label’s most influential music from the last ten years – not forgetting some amazing new tracks.

The Spirit Project & Starving Yet Full – Find Your Way (Déepalma Records)

Déepalma heads into February with sultry sounds and introspective feelings with a dazzling single from The Spirit Project & Starving Yet Full. The Spirit Project (Paul Murashov) is a musician, composer, songwriter and music producer from Latvia, who has spent time between Riga, Moscow and Los Angeles. Paul has produced music for a wave of famous artists from Europe, USA and further afield, including Tank, Timati, MOT, L’ONE, Zivert and Egor Kreed. Starving Yet Full is the solo moniker of the lead singer from Azari & III, who were famously remixed by Jamie Jones on their iconic track ‘Hungry For The Power’.

‘Find Your Way’ is an instantly mesmerising record with Deep & Afro House nuances throughout. Centring around introspective vocals and emotionally-charged melodies, its touching energy ascends from a sea of heartened musicality and delicate rhythms, loaded with live percussion and atmospheric resonance from start to finish.

Cosmic Vision – Blue Shift EP (Ready Mix Records)

Production duo Cosmic Vision, aka DJ Element and Below Bangkok, present two original tracks for Ready Mix Records release number 259, plus a remix from Kiano.

Two old friends from the Croatian city of Rijeka, DJ Element and Below Bangkok begin to set out their unique Cosmic Vision with the opening track ‘Other Side’, a deep and melodic journey with many twists and turns throughout its almost nine-minute length.

Second original tune ‘Blue Shift’ shows a slightly moodier, more melancholic character, with straight-up drums and a hypnotic sub bassline to drift away on.

The dub version takes us deeper into our meditation, stripping ‘Blue Shift’ down to the bare essentials and letting the drums speak.

Below Bangkok invites his brother Kiano aboard for a remix of ‘Blue Shift’, raising the tempo to summon up a late-night, eyes-closed dancefloor atmosphere, with scintillating chord stabs and a rolling groove.

Rudi’Kastic – Last Date EP (Velvet Basement)

Velvet Basement are very pleased to welcome Rudi’Kastic to the label with this outstanding 3 track EP ‘Last Date’.

Forteba – Dubby Monday EP (Limitation Music)

Release number 53 follows Forteba debut EP on Limitation Music. In 2016 he did a remix for the Rory Cochrane track called Focus and now is releasing Dubby Monday EP with remixes from Addex, BDTom and Specdub. With releases on labels like Plastic CIty, Spring Tube, Nite Grooves, DeepStitched, etc., he has established as a very versatile deep house producer.

The original track has a laid-back deep house style to it, with a wide range of dub techno sounds, warm pads and constant rhythm. Addex remix brings a clearer version with deep sounds sliced it in the middle by a very short uplifting break. The BDTom remix gives his dub techno style and keeps sounds from the original track in a similar laid-back style, while the last remix from SpecDub goes full techno style with less melody and a strong kick.
