Yemanjo – La Misma Fuente LP (Wonderwheel Music)

Wonderwheel Recordings presents a debut album by Yemanjo that blends Afro rhythms and organic sounds to create a spellbinding release with multicultural influences.

Yemanjo is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who uses his talents to produce tracks that range from downtempo electronic to upbeat Afro house, and this 10-track release showcases the full range of his talents.

Ben Harris aka Yemanjo is an American artist who now lives in Guatemala. From a young age, he was fascinated by the upbeat energy and vibrant rhythms of music from Africa and Latin America. Later in life, he travelled to these parts of the world to experience the culture first hand. He was inspired by his travels and started creating music that fused electronic sounds from his home scene in California with the organic instruments of Africa and Latin America.

After developing his own unique production style, Yemanjo was born in 2018, and since then he has built up an impressive back catalogue including releases on highly respected record labels such as Cafe De Anatolia, trndmsk, Cosmic Awakenings, and Camel Riders.

Not only does the release feature Ben Harris playing the trumpet and other instruments, the album also features collaborations with guest singers and musicians from Mali, Colombia, Argentina, Hungary and beyond.

The album’s title track “La Misma Fuente” opens the release with an enchanting groove that sets the scene with Yemanjo’s own harmonised Spanish vocals, and flowing percussion underpinned by an upbeat bassline.

Track two, “Juru Fô” is an Afro house track featuring the majestic vocal tones of Malian vocalist Mariam Koné.

“Bululú” is third on the release, and it’s an instrumental which lifts the energy with its fast-paced rhythms and dramatic vocal stabs that add to the jackin’ energy of the groove.

“Baobab” has twinkling Ngoni melodies, which is a traditional string instrument, complemented by flutters of trumpet and earthy percussion.

“Mar Mar Mar” has a flamenco influence with upbeat guitar chords, castanet rhythms and mesmerising Spanish vocals by Freddy Velasquez that intertwine with uplifting trumpet melodies.

“Janfa” sees the return of vocalist Mariam Koné who adds her sensual tones to a downtempo groove with reggae influence.

“Guardianes” is a jovial track with soothing Spanish vocals and trippy synths that are fuelled by intricate guitar melody and Afro percussion rhythms.

Seventh on the release, “Csillagvirág” features Medicina Band and its a haunting ballad with mournful trumpets and Latin percussion.

The penultimate track, “Suena La Quena,” lifts the energy for a feel-good finish with a soaring Andean flute and psychedelic atmospherics.

“Bridge to Bamako” closes the release with a trip hop groove that shows Yemanjo’s full range of styles and provides an epic ending to this stunning album.

Blanka Mazimela feat. Korus & Sobantwana – Gcwanini (Get Physical Music)

After Andhim remixed it last year, Samantha Loveridge now adds her own spin to Blanka Mazimela feat. Korus & Sobantwana’s ‘Gcwanini’. This is her first return to the label since she collaborated with Lizwi on ‘Beka’ last year and after her cover of REM’s ‘Losing My Religion’ became a big hit for the Sydney-based rising star. She has played all across the world in recent times and counts the likes of Black Coffee, Jimi Jules, and Rüfüs Du Sol as fans of her work.

Her superb remix brings some signature Afro warmth and house depth to the original. The vocal is a spine-tinging one with smoky soul while the synths keep you on edge as the drums roll on in an uplifting fashion. It is a truly standout track full of character.

Eclectic house duo andhim’s remix from back in October is also included. It enriches the soul with the stirring vocals and authentic Afro-house flavours in the percussion and chord work. The rich and atmospheric original closes out this fantastic package.

With a dynamic career spanning 39 years, Frankie Flowerz is one of the masterminds behind Electric Monday, the legendary weekly event at Kitkat Club, Berlin, and has shared stages with artists including Kenny Dixon Jr (Moodymann), Theo Parrish, Trentemoller, Laurent Garnier, and many more. On the production side, Frankie’s musical works have graced esteemed labels such as Hypercolour, Crosstown Rebels, OM Records, Turbo Recordings and Internasojnal. And he has also recorded under various monikers including; Das Deva on Blaou Records, 2Dawgs on Moodmusic and Audio Royal & Hybrid Funk on Funkhausmusic. To celebrate the upcoming release of Deep Value Vol 8, Bondage Music have selected five cuts which truly showcase the depth of music on display.

Opening the sampler, LEENI and Danilo Kupfernagel explore deep Latin flavours on ‘Para Siempre’. Liquid cool and groovy as hell, it’ll be a mainstay for the deeper floors all summer. Next up, Romanian House royalty, Mihai Popoviciu keeps it warm and fuzzy on ‘Forces’. It’s classic Mihai so resistance is futile!

Bondage Music’s own Pornbugs drop a showstopping peak time banger on ‘Allecram’. Loaded with funky bass, nuanced melodics and a ton of soul, this is a surefire future anthem. Dachshund’s powerful groover ‘Evolver’ lights up any party. Cool nods to the mid-00’s minimal electro sound and sparse percussion do irreputable damage to any dancefloor!

Finally, UK-based Gareth Cole rounds out the sampler with his tough and uncompromising sound on ‘Reflection’. Expect sweaty bodies dancing with abandon, arms aloft and smiles wide the moment this drops.

Yves Eaux – Mississippi & Miles (Tanzgemeinschaft Records)

Tanzgemeinschaft is thrilled to present the latest adventure from the talented Dutch DJ and producer, Yves Eaux, with the release of the “Mississippi/Miles EP.” This collection stands as a great showcase of Yves Eaux’s dynamic range and innovative spirit, blending laidback vibes with deep, funky grooves and rhythmic influences.

Prepare for a fresh, groove-driven take on French Montana’s “Unforgettable” as Sinvergüenza & Tiago Dima step up with their captivating Afro House remix.

Diving into the original’s emotive vocal elements, the duo craft a scintillating rework that seamlessly blends stylish melodics and dance-floor energy.

At the heart of the remix lies a foundation of lush, organic percussion – shimmering shakers, richly textured drum patterns, and earthy, tribal-influenced grooves.

Weaving through the mix are blissful, hypnotic chords and a captivating synthline that compliment the original vocals perfectly.
