SRMR236

Ruh (SE) – Karanteller EP (Ready Mix Records)

Release Date:
July 2nd 2021 (Beatport Exclusive)
July 16th 2021 (Worldwide)

Swedish born from Turkish decent, Ruh (SE) returns to Ready Mix Records for release number 236, a gorgeous pair of deep, melodic and organic original cuts.

Meaning ‘Soul’ in Arabic, Rûh’s mission is to ‘evoke positive emotions through sound’, and he certainly hits the mark with a charming opening track ‘Karanteller’. Led by warm piano chords and subtle rhythms, there’s something dreamlike about the fragments of flute melody and almost banjo-like arpeggio that make this compact, almost folksy electronic gem utterly irresistible.

The EP’s B-Side, ‘Viper’, summons more of an upbeat, atmospheric deep house groove, with sublime hangdrum melodies and stirring string chords building toward a truly heart-stopping neo-classical breakdown which is sure to melt even the hardest of hearts.

Max Doblhoff & Idd Aziz – Gombato (Leisure Music Productions)

With the outmost pleasure the label welcome back a true and dear friend ‘Max Doblhoff’. This time he presents with his long term friend and musical colleague ‘Idd Aziz’ a true afro house gem called ‘Gombato’.

Both artists are very well known and masters in Afro House.

Gombato Original Mix is an uplifting true Afro track with original recorded instruments only, featuring Idd Aziz beautiful voice. Gombato features a groovy bassline, and a wonderful implementation of original recorded african percussion, amazing vocals and some progressive synth elements, flutes, and a mellow but driving kick, which makes the track a perfect groovy and funky opener.

Elias (GER) an outstanding producer in Afro House with releases on epic labels such as Moe Black interprets Gombato in his smooth, deeper and more electronic approach. He kicks it off with a punchy but muffled kick and old vinyl recording texture, synth progression and Idd Aziz voice. Weaving gently in a groovy bassline a poignant shaker as well as percussive elements. A fantastic jazzy organ melody complements his track where he improvises on top of this outstanding groove.

OSCR164

Henry Navarro – No Turning Back (Remixes) (Oh So Coy Recordings)

Originally the B side to Henry’s Night Call EP released late last year, we thought it deserved a bit more attention. Dark and pulsing with a menacing vocal the original pushes a driving tech energy.

For the remix pack we enlisted French duo Lee Trax & Nick De Voost to add a lighter mood with bouncing bass, airy synths and quirky percussion whilst label owner Matt Prehn works the original chords imparting a funkier raw edge.

VV9902

Magnus Asberg – Into U (Viva Recordings)

Viva Recordings looks toward London-by-the-Sea for an expressive new single from Brighton’s veteran DJ force-of-nature Magnus Asberg. After a thirty year history behind the decks, in the studio, and organizing hundreds of debaucherous parties, Magnus’s ear for quality sounds has held the respect of those in-the-know for a long while. Under his own name as well as through this pseudonym C-Soul, Magnus has released tunes with an esteemed group of labels including DIY Discs, Plastic City, Ornate Music, and his own Romana Records.

Magnus’s latest for Viva, “Into You”, launches with a tight, skippy house music rhythm. Bright chords and panning piano-like sparkles add the vibe while a punchy sub-bass bubbles underneath. Vocal snips and sung phrases bat in and out, guiding the deepness further to the underground. The ‘b-side’ remix comes from the legendary Canadian producer Jay Tripwire who delivers an exquisite Deependub. Jay’s take is spacey and spacious, brandishing shots of reverb and sustained tonal textures throughout its runtime. These cuts are for the most intimate of late nights, as bodies vibrate hypnotically on a darkened dancefloor.

SO060

Danco & RL Music – Distant Minds EP (SoundOptix Records)

This EP projects is characterized by a wide spectrum of sound landscapes, melodies, addictive grooves and emotions as if covering the opposite parts of the world (Australia and The Netherlands) the 2 producers come from.

Border lines begins with an exotic authentic Chinese snare instrument and is gradually taken over by an addictive melodic line embedded in lush pads.

A day to remember contemplates the passing away of a good friend with all the good shared memories surfacing and remaining as reflected by the different arpeggio’s and repetitive piano hook.

In Trust in me, Marge Hunt makes her debut as a vocalist accompanied with Dan on a Venova (sax type instrument) surrounded by warm expressive and organic sounds.

Fragility provides a dreamy, fragile atmosphere with lush flute sounds and melody. We hope this EP will contribute towards a good and positive feel and vibe, much needed in these times.
