ARKADYAN – Tulila (Sol Selectas)
Release Date: Friday 29 July 2022
Sabo’s record label Sol Selectas drops an enchanting Afro house EP by ARKADYAN, which also features remixes by Safar (FR) and Manoo.
ARKADYAN are a talented trio who have previously featured their tribal rhythms and ancestral instruments on other imprints ranging from Cosmic Awakenings to Madorasindahouse Records, and their music has been popular with DJs such as Black Coffee, Bedouin, Satori, Blond:ish and many others of equal note.
Safar (FR) is a French artist who recently debuted on Sol Selectas with a track on the label’s Summer Sol VII compilation with a scorching hot vibe, and this remix once again shows off his talents.
Manoo is from the city of Lyon in France and he is well-known for his productions on Innervisions, Compost and Classic Music Company. His style is a jazzy blend with deep atmosphere and groovy basslines.
“Tulila” is the solo original on the release and it features the vocals of Moroccan artist Radouan Naim who also played the guembri instrument that’s used in the track. The lyrics are sung in the Berber language and are accompanied by tense pads, vibrant percussion and dramatic chords.
Safar (FR) provides a refined remix that’s true to the original with its chopped-up vocals and flowing tribal rhythms that are both crisp and hypnotic.
Closing out the release is the remix by Manoo that adds a new bassline with extra energy while also drawing attention to the percussion to focus on the tribal rhythms of the congas and other percussion.
The artwork by Helia Jamali depicts the golden spiral of life & the harmonic dance of the universe.
Adam Nathan – Hyacinth EP (Viva Recordings)
Adam Nathan is a London-born, Toronto-raised DJ and producer quickly making a name for himself on the global deep house scene. Previously collaborating under various monikers and part of Toronto’s influential Release Records crew, Adam is now unveiling potent solo tracks under his name. This new EP for Viva Recordings, titled Hyacinth, is his second for the label, and has the well-honed sound of a studio veteran, with a smooth, warm sound and emotive passages. Adam’s roots as a drummer come through with the stripped down emphasis on rhythm, while melodic flourishes and dynamic builds play masterfully on top.
The EP opens with ”Hyacinth”, featuring dramatic strings and a fine, pulsating kick drum. The cut builds in a mesmerizing fashion, like the beautiful unfolding of this flower in Spring. “Soul Council” gets into even deeper territory, with deep and melodic inspirations, echoing some of the earlier work on the label. “Wave Hands Like Clouds”, finishes the EP off with dreamlike touches. Synth stabs, percussion that rolls, and the blissful strings will have you soaring. Float away on these deep vibes.
Demarkus Lewis – Angel’s Dust EP (Grin Music)
Label boss Demarkus Lewis returns to Grin Music with another 3 house tracks for you to get addicted too, just like the EP’s title.
3 tracks which ‘Can’t Do No Wrong’ as you have ‘5 On The Slide’ in that ‘Old Jersey Way’. Real house music at it’s finest from one of the good guys of the scene who is loved by all.

Dim Zach – Endless Summer (Emerald & Doreen Records)
Dim Zach is a rare occurence: a charismatic, talented DJ turned prolific producer and songwriter who, having imposed himself through sheer talent and hard work, has become ubiquitous in his country, Greece. A shift many dream of, although few achieve as successfully. And for good reason, blessed with a mission (real name) Dimosthenis Zachariadis rarely fails to generate feelgood emotions, beaming up listeners to the dancefloor of an imaginary Mediterranean nightclub of his own hedonist creation.
A self-confessed work-alcoholic with a relentless output, this multitasker juggles as many projects as he can lay his hands on: remixing new artists as well as old hits, releasing on plethora of major and independent labels, having in time proved himself as seasoned songwriter and live artist in his own right – he’s behind electro pop band Liebe with vocalist/guitarist George (three albums to date including, the last, ‘Revolution of Love’ on Emerald & Doreen). Notwithstanding this punitive studio schedule still allows him to deejay in clubs and host a couple of weekly radio shows on popular stations (his sound does wonders on the airwaves).
It all starts with a deep passionate love for the tunes that make you dance, essentially the golden eras of 80s’ funked-up electronic pop and 90s’ classic house variations (which combined laid the foundations for today’s widespread dance culture). Filling the gap between commercial and underground, Dim Zach opts blindly for a more visceral mantra: good music creates good vibes. A blueprint effortlessly managed on his brand new album gathering fresh compositions as well as remixes of Emerald & Doreen artists.
Operating outside ephemeral trends and limiting tags, ‘Endless Summer’ digests many distinguished influences (Imagination, Aeroplane, Dubstar, ‘Fade To Grey’, ‘La Serenissima’ etc) yet always sounds like the work of his tasteful originator; accessible yet never dishonest, contrived nor stale. Alongside slick beats, rolling basslines, glittering percussive synthesisers and cascades of swirling catchy hooks, the ear-candy melodies on offer, sometimes deliciously naive, are always heartfelt and generous, transcending categorisations and time. Truly the universal beat of love. much valued by his loyal fans.
Just like Dim Zach’s iconic ‘Ingredients of Love’ album did in 2021, Dim Zach ‘Endless Summer’ lands right on time to be part of this summer’s indispensable soundtrack, a liberation and new-found freedom to relish with Dim Zach’s uplifting songs and exalted melodies.
