Smoove Rankin – Synchronize (Sound Vessel Records)

This bomb EP is literally ready to explode your speakers because the urge to turn the volume up with these jams will be very difficult not too!

Smoove Rankin has created two fantastic Deep House tunes that are truly House classic vibes, something you will hear again after years go by, its here to stay his music. Synchronize, the title of this EP and the highlight track has tempted two heavy weight artists to give it a touch from their own soul.

When it comes to Soul, we know Demarkus Lewis is the guy for that soulful, passionate and addicting vibes. His remix truly defines his music, which is timeless. Then comes that German Tech yet Deep but with an uplifting charm, Marvin Zeyss. His approach was more energetic and melodic, which gives a great summer vibe tune. Its like an endless summer feeling you get when you listen his first remix. The second remix, he throws in that Tech touch, specially made for those warehouse clubbers that like that echoing synth sounds.

This is one of those Stand Out EPs from Sound Vessel Records.

First track awake’s the EP with background melody which turns slowly and progressively in rhythm, like the beginning of a story.

Second track Power shares more a groove rhythm mixed with sound delays and deep vocals.

Third track Spaceline Suburbian gives the EP a more funky look and feel with a touch of background and reversed aerial sounds while the last track, TestTubeTrauma reshape’s the EP in a more dub-tech way with some breakbeat style and soundscape design.

Inessa feat. Nilla Rocha – Chacha’s Groove (Leisure Music Productions)

Inessa’s track is a deep organic house track that kicks it off with a deep kick, conga percussion, piano stabs, multiple underlying synth pads and soft driving shakers. Accompanied by a lovely piano melody and a nice groove. Moog sub 37 bassline and an afro bassline featuring the amazing Brasilian vocals of Nilla Rocha, driving the track forward into the first break where a melancholic trumpet melody is introduced opening up the second part of the song. Spanish guitar elements, trumpet, and synth melodies and arps as well as an underlying deep progression continue this summer vibe journey. She finishes the track in the last part with a more progressive approach.

Jay’s Remix kicks it off with an upbeat drum percussion featuring cowbells, congas, shakers and a deep and driving kick as well as claps. Groove pure from the first second on. Slowly introducing elements from the original version such as synth pads, synth melodies, and piano elements, vocals, trumpets and guitar fx. The remix is a real groover and Jay builds it up slowly, introducing all elements with tension and great breaks that give the track a fantastic traction. Wonderful work again. Thank you so much.. for this one again.

Bruce Loko – I Open At The Close LP (Get Physical Music)

Bruce Loko follows up his standout Devil’s Cry EP with a first full-length album on Get Physical Music. ‘I Open At The Close’ is a 12-track trip into Loko’s authentic take on Afro house.

South African Bruce Loko is a man with many loves and influences, from visual arts and crafts to architectural technology, jazz music, and piano playing. He has released on quality labels like Atjazz Record Company and, of course, on Get Physical. He has become one of his country’s finest house pioneers thanks to his artfully crafted sounds and unique DJ sets. This new album finds him collaborating with a wealth of fine talents, all of whom help to enrich the overall sound.

The scene-setting title track opens the album in stunning style. Deeply spiritual chords and vocals from Msimisi immediately set an absorbing atmosphere before Biishop guests on superb electronic lullaby ‘Suffer.’ Loko and Sebee connect on ‘Lonely Mountain,’ a mid-tempo, heavyweight house track with majestic synth and percussion. Superb solo cut ‘God’s Window II’ is an expansive, cosmic groove with smeared synths and dark drum tension and ‘After Hours’ twist and turns in late-night fashion with more spine-tingling vocals from Biishop.

The wonderful ‘Myoho’ and ‘Pyramind of Giza’ find Loko in solo mode. The former layers up rich pads and silky drums with his trademark sense of soul taking you on an emotional ride. The latter is a chunky broken beat affair with spaced-out pad work that gets you dreaming. Sandy Artwell is the guest on ‘Falcons,’ a track that fizzes with late-night energy as the taught synths and popping melodies ride over a tense groove.

As the name implies, ‘Astral Projection’ shoots for the stars, its broad, brooding pads bringing scale to the minimal house drums. Excellent new single, ‘Devil’s Cry’ is a testament to Loko’s unique ability to imbue his synths with real pain and vulnerability, and after ‘Kundalini’ with Sandy Artwell fills the heart and mind with subtle house optimism, ‘Golden Snitch’ ends this most fantastic album with eight epic minutes of textural synth tension and bubbling drum work.

‘I Open At The Close’ is a landmark album for both Bruce Loko and Get Physical.

Alicia – Meraki’a (Uniting Souls Music)

“Meraki’a,” from NY-via-Italy producer Alicia, made its first appearance on Uniting Souls Music’s Summer Solstice 2021 Compilation. The track grabbed the attention of DJs and dance floors, warranting its own single featuring a pair of top notch remixes.

The deep and techy original leads off the single, with its hypnotic drive, bubbling bass line, and dramatic swells. It’s tailor-made for the after hours. The first remix of “Meraki’a” is by Copenhagen’s Alvaro Suarez who adds a dark, mysterious vibe to the tune. Distant flutes, stabs of piano, and hollow percussion give this one a distinctive, deep ‘exotica’ vibe.

Closing out the single is a sublime rework from USM mainstay and Seattle scene veteran Jon Lee. Crisp drum beats propel an insistent sub-bass riff, moody synth pads, and dubby percussive elements into a cohesive whole. All three cuts are exceptional — it’ll be tough for DJs to choose which one to play first.
