POFTLRECS Jamie S – The Educator (People of the Light Records)

On April 24, 2020 the electronic music world lost one it’s most beloved legends, Mike Huckaby. A pivotal figure in Detroit, Michigan and around the globe, renown as a seminal DJ, producer, educator and tastemaker.

Four artists, have come together to pay a special tribute to his legacy with The Educator EP. Each uniquely comprised variations of the Educator, originally spearheaded by Manchester’s rising talent, Jamie S and remixed by iiiso3, Jay Hill & LIBS. This special release commemorates Huckaby’s life, using vocal cuts from Huckaby’s last interview and purchased samples from his website.

Jamie S.’s original mix is a heartfelt & classy deep house number comprised of filtered textures, floating pads and dubby chords that give way to a sublime introduction for the A side title tune. Making for an exquisite second release on People of the Light.

One of Liverpool’s best hidden secrets, iiiso3 joins the POTL family with his massive a-side Deep In Detroit mix – a deep & dub tech rendition that showcases his top talents via smooth & unwavering swells and chords that circulate and layer in kaleidoscopic fashion. Taking us on a hypnotic drum & percussion journey that is all the while, classy, psychedelic, and soulful.

POTL founder, Jay Hill provides her B-side Detroit Reverence interpretation that is a lush, lighthearted deep tech dance floor builder.

Finishing off the B-side, POTL A&R multi-talent, LIBS delivers his Motor City Soul mix that captivates the melodic house lovers. With bright arpeggiations, eclectic synths & subby basslines lay the foundation for this intriguing audio journey taking you into the late night hours aptly.

Ready Mix Records favorite Khaaron returns to the imprint with a new original track ‘Lum’, our label release number 256.

A hypnotic, mid-tempo, Deep House stepper, ‘Lum’ is simply a DJ’s dream, taking its sweet time to build up from its percussive intro, waiting until a minute and 20 seconds into the journey before taking flight.

Manuel Moreno – Robexa EP (Take Away Records)

Manuel Moreno drops a new deep house release on the Take Away record label and alongside the two originals it also includes remixes by Peter Makto and Soulfeed.

Based in the Swedish city of Sankt Gallen, Manuel Moreno is an accomplished electronic music producer whose style ranges from deep house to melodic house/techno. His immersive style fuses captivating melodies with techy percussion and his tracks and remixes can be found on other imprints such as Hive Audio, Embassy One, Ritter Butzke Records and Global Underground.

Peter Makto has been a regular feature of Take Away, who often collaborates on the imprint with Gregory S. This time Peter Makto delivers a solo remix in the melodic style he has featured on other record labels including Harabe, Manual Music and Click Records.

Soulfeed are the founders of Take Away, but the duo has also worked with other record labels such as Hoomidaas, MBF ltd and Where The Heart Is. They have a deep and atmospheric style that fuses organic sounds with flowing rhythms.

“Robexa” opens the release with a stripped back groove and building tension underpinned by a dramatic bassline as it builds towards the introduction of its tantalising melody. “Faces” is another dance floor focused track that layers haunting vocals with trippy atmosphere and shuffling percussion.

Peter Makto’s remix of Robexa focuses on the synths with the addition of an arpeggio lead and more prominent use of the original’s melody. Soulfeed close out the release with their rework of Faces, which adds uplifting atmosphere and organic percussion sounds.

MINT (JPN) – Endless EP (Beachside Limited)

Beachside Limited are pleased to present MINT (JPN) who comes from Japan to present us his latest work entitled Endless EP. In this WEP there are two exciting tracks full of the finest and most dazzling minimal house, full of hypnotic sounds, exciting bass lines and kicks that will put us in a hypnotic trance.

In a few words this is a release full of the musical spirit that Beachside showcases all this time.

Double Drop & Xabizo – Bendingayazi (Villahangar Records)

For his new track “Bendingayazi” made in collaboration with the artist Xabizo, great musical promise, which title comes from ‘babalaza’, as the hangovers in Mozambique and South Africa are called, which later became ‘Bindigaize’, dizzy – he chose afrobeat sounds, exploring new boundaries and getting involved.

And he was inspired by “Tenet”, the highly acclaimed film directed by Christopher Nolan: acting in reverse just like in the film where the actions take place backwards in time, he manipulated the sample of song of the soundtrack with the same fascinating inspiration.

Maxi Meraki – Hayibo EP (Villahangar Records)

Enter the world of Belgium’s Maxi Meraki – he is a melodic roller, providing ideal sounds for the deep clubbing community.

Vocals strike out to apply a consistent vibe to the ‘Hayibo’ track. A traveling of synth projections and piano harmonies.

On the other side, ‘Motea’ and ‘Now You Know’ bring melodic drifting, unfolding a low key drama demanding the edge of your seat.

Meraki’s blooming back catalogue received previous support from e.g. Themba, Claptone, Jamie Jones, BLOND:ISH and Pete Tong on BBC1.
