Manu Ela – La Revolución (Les Disques Du Bord De L’Eau)
La Revolución was composed by Manu Ela, a multi-faceted Chilean artist based now in Berlin. Handling the brush as an illustrator as well as the needle as a tattooist, she also sings armed with her ukulele and her pan flute.
This title refers to the own revolution that everyone must do inside himself to reach different steps in life with the goal of finding its own freedom. The singers Macarena Paz and Irali are joining Manu in this quest with their incantations.
Four remixes complete this first release of the year 2022 with four different readings and universe from Judith Ahrends (Germany), Inessa (Austria), Dvniel (Mexico), and Dan Bay & Le Rubrique (Germany).

Départ – Childish EP (Kindisch Records)
Istanbul duo Départ mark their Kindisch debut, serving up a fantastic musical adventure with their Childish EP.
Batu Boris and Omeria describe themselves as a blend of two souls with different perspectives coming together to make something fresh. As artists, they constantly try to push boundaries with their uniquely characterful visions. They have so far served up grooves full of rich emotions on Sol Selectas, and these two new tracks make another step up.
Things open at a sensuous tempo on ‘Childish,’ allowing the elastic bassline plenty of room to breath and hypnotise. Deft chords are warm and humid, and a light scattering or percussive sounds and synth motifs flesh out the grooves as melancholic vocal sounds hint at heartbreak.
The brilliantly absorbing ‘Two Shine Brighter’ closes things out with deep and cuddly drums. Prickly synth modulations bring texture, and spoken word vocals make the groove all the more intimate as it rolls on. This is candle-lit house for cosy dance floors that appreciate musical subtleties.
These are two hugely personal and meaningful house tracks from this fast-rising duo.
Andre Stepanian – Left It All (Friskybeat Records)
Friskybeat Records presents “Left It All,” the latest single from jazz/flamenco guitarist and producer Andre Stepanian.
Based in Vancouver, Stepanian has delivered a tropical dance groove that incorporates an acoustic nylon guitar for its main melody. Subtle vocal ad-libs introduce the track which are joined by swirling strings and guitar melodies. The Latin-house rhythm, funk-fueled bassline, and staccato electric piano chords shape the song’s feel-good vibes.
Cool, driving percussion over more prominent kick and bass tracks flavor Luis Machuca’s extended mix. The strings and pianos are jazzed-up a bit, giving the mix some added depth. In addition, the mix features a sultry female vocal playing call-and-response with the guitar melodies for some sleek deep house smoothness.
Casomado is on hand for a club-ready dub mix, stripped down with nuanced differences in the groove. A new bassline binds the percussion and pads to the bottom end while a groovy synth hook creates a haunting effect, wavering in and out of the tune. Affected vocals add texture while nodding to the original version’s themes and motifs. Each track on “Left It All” is a dancefloor pleasure.

Artist Quote –
“I did a lot of field recording in the woods around the time of production, and was also reading a lot about how our brains wire themselves.
I think there’s a really interesting overlap in how neural networks in the brain mirror the roots and branches of trees and other plant life.””
