VA – Mental Picks Vol.52 (Expmental Records)

Every summer, our Mental Picks series slows down for its one downtempo chapter of the year — a ritual we come back to each season. It exists for a simple reason: downtempo is a sound the label boss loves and returns to producing every year, bridging his two aliases, Eddy Romero and Saturnz Other Soul, on a single track.

Around that core, the familiar circle gathers again. ChillOhm returns, several editions deep now. And from Peru, Blu.a is back with a cut of pure, unhurried downtempo.

Warm, organic and built for the slower hours. Whether you catch this every year or you’re finding it for the first time, this is what the summer chapter is about.

Release date: 28 August 2026
Format: Digital

Bodaishin – Circles LP (Circle Of Life)

Bodaishin announces Circles, a conceptual album exploring the invisible cycles that shape us.

With CIRCLES, Bodaishin presents his most ambitious work to date, a conceptual album built around ten interconnected chapters that trace the invisible architecture of transformation. Rather than telling a linear story, the record unfolds as a living cycle, where every ending quietly becomes the beginning of something else.

Each composition represents a different phase of this journey, from origin and awakening to dissolution, revelation and renewal. Together, they form a continuous spiral, inviting listeners to experience the album as a whole instead of a collection of individual tracks.

At its core, Circles explores a simple but profound idea: transformation is rarely about becoming someone new. More often, it is about remembering who we have always been beneath the noise, the movement and the constant change of life.

The album opens with “Vertical”, a meditation on unseen beginnings, before moving through moments of discovery, alignment and expansion. As the cycle unfolds, tracks like “Midnight Gospel”, “Spinning Around” and “Ocarina” dissolve familiar structures and introduce new forms of perception, while “Inside Dreams” turns the journey inward. Everything ultimately converges in “Circle of Life”, the emotional and conceptual heart of the album, where the cycle reveals itself in its entirety. From there, “Till The Morning” and *Sapphire* complete the spiral, not with an ending, but with a quiet sense of integration and renewal.

The release of “Circle of Life” also marks an important milestone in Bodaishin’s artistic journey as his 100th official release, symbolizing the completion of one creative era while opening the door to the next.

Blending organic textures, cinematic atmospheres and emotionally driven electronic production, “Circles” is less concerned with genre than with creating immersive spaces where sound becomes memory, movement becomes reflection, and every listener is invited to discover their own place within the cycle.

Every ending returns to the beginning. Every beginning remembers what came before. The circle never closes, it simply continues.
