Homero Espinosa – Dance to the Rhythm of Love EP (Viva Recordings)

After a decade away, legendary west coast DJ troubadour Homero Espinosa returns to Viva Recordings for another pair of already classic-sounding deep house floor-fillers. “Dance To The Rhythm Of Love” is a shaker-shaking four-on-the-floor wonder, spreading vibes outward that are introspective and groove-worthy, not to mention its undercurrent of shimmering sexiness.

A male vocal transmits the message as pads vibrate and bass lines bubble, giving it all for the love of music. Homero also delivers “Running Behind,” a sublime stab at lowdown house elegance that gives a new glimpse at the old school. The rhythms are insistent as the synth chords flutter in the stereo field. As if that wasn’t enough, David Harness, San Francisco’s ambassador of deep house realness, rerubs “Dance To The Rhythm Of Love” into his sublime Afro Puff Mix.

The beats are potent on this mix, deftly imbuing an afro-house flavor into the original’s deep mixology. The build here is subtle but delightfully effective — a late-night dream comes true.

Lonya & Los Cabra feat Marvin Jam – All Things Come To An End (Get Physical Music)

Lonya & Los Cabra join forces with vocalist Marvin Jam for a spine-tingling new house single on Get Physical Music.

Lonya heads up the Asymmetric Recordings label and is one of house music’s most consistent DJs and producers. He’s released with the likes of Stil Vor Talent and Sudbeat and collaborates here with Berlin-based Los Cabra who lands on the same labels and draws on his Latin roots to cook up melodically introspective sounds in the world of tech, Afro and deep house. Bremen-born singer, DJ and musician Marvin Jam completes the trio and is an in-demand vocalist who plays all over the world.

Between them they hit upon a magical deep house vibe with the magnificent ‘All Things Come To An End’. It has seductively warm and cuddly beats and rolling bass with deft synths and organic percussion up top. The sensuous vocals bring the soul and plenty of intimate late-night feels.

This is classy cut that exhibits exquisite house craft.

Station Point – Alcyone EP (Harmonious Discord)

SF Bay Area multi-modal artist Station Point (Chakharta, JDN) is known for creating rugged but precise dub-laden melodies. A maestro of complex rhythmic pattern builds, Station Point returns to Harmonious Discord to deliver a well-rounded two-tracker with hints of psychedelic flare and urban tones. Joining the project are HD label boss PointBender and prolific pad inventor Patchen with two unique variations on the supremely delightful originals.

The EP begins with “Babombicz”, a syncopated joyride saddled by pitchy arps and cacophonous drum fills. The track evolves, diving deeper into melodic interplays driven by bells that culminate into a trance-like state. Patchen reimagines the colorful playground of “Babombicz” with his signature swung drum components, briefly interrupted by glitchy sound design moments. The remix quickly moves into a forward-leaning acid melody that delivers increased movement and ramps up the energy.

“Alcyone Chorus” shifts the listener into a more laid-back reprise, with expertly-crafted reversed swells and tension-building pad construction. The beautiful melodic moments are tempered perfectly with the emerging acid lead and live drum accents. A late-arriving sub bass ensures that one will truly feel this on the dancefloor. PointBender reengineers “Alcyone Chorus” as a messy but lush electro remix with homages to early Random Factor/Carl Finlow releases.

The syncopation of the electro patterns with the layered pad abstractions adds an element of euphoria, a great remix to get lost inside. With more on the roadmap from Station Point, Harmonious Discord is excited to introduce you to the maneuvering styles of this conscious creator.
