Nick Scofield – Highway 1 EP (TOR Music)

Release Date: Friday 2 July 2021
Format: Digital

01. Highway 1
02. Rebirth
03. Crystal Cove

When We Dip’s TOR is back with another deep and sensual release from Nick Scofield who once again shows off his melodic style.

Nick Scofield has been crafting his own sound, which is centred around a backbone of sturdy grooves with melodies that are both retro and futuristic.

After featuring on two of TOR’s ‘Tales Of Romance’ various artist compilations, this three track EP is Nick Scofield’s first solo release for the label.

In addition to working with TOR his tracks and remixes can also be heard on other imprints including Eleatics, Mousike Records and his own imprint ESSENTIALISM.

“Highway 1” opens the release with tribal percussion and a burst of an arpeggio synth that adds a spine-tingling suspense over the funk of the bass guitar. “Rebirth” has a poignant vibe with deep chords and soulful vocal phrases to create a Moby-esque vibe, and “Crystal Cove” closes out the release in a similar style but with classic piano stabs.

DJ Christian B – Atlantis EP (Velvet Bassment Records)

Tropical Velvet’s brand-new sister-label, Velvet Bassment Records is pleased to welcome DJ Christian B, who debuts with a deliciously deep EP. ‘Heart of Atlantis’ echoes Detroit with atmospheric pianos and strings underpinned by a sumptuously deep bass, while ‘No One Like U’ takes a more stripped-down deep-funk approach.

A stand-out and essential EP.

Celeda – The Underground (Cerillo Warehouse Edit) (White Label)

Cerillo’s ‘Warehouse Edits’ series continues to go from strength to strength. The next few instalments take a much deeper and melodic approach while still packing that punch on the low end that we’re all beginning to hear again on Dancefloors!

This is the sixth edit of the series, and the second so far this year – which has seen global support from; Jamie Jones, Archie Hamilton, Joris Voorn, Steve Lawler, Santé, De La Swing, Manuel De La Mare, Green Velvet, Skream and more.

Juan Hoerni feat Maurice Smith – Let It Go (Cha Cha Project Recordings)

Release Date: – Friday, July 2 2021

Record Sounds Like: If Marvin Gaye got with a choir and made an uplifting house track to get you on the dance floor.

Juan Hoerni returns to Cha Cha Project Recording with the brilliant Let It Go, featuring the vocal talents & strong message of Maurice Smith and a brace of stand out remixes from Roy Davis Jr and BRS.

Rooted in Gospel and Disco, the original keeps the positivity flowing with a classy groove that puts Maurice & his message front and center in the production. Roy Davis Jr needs no introduction and his reworks amp up the smoother Disco elements in the track in his own unique style.

Closing out the EP we have BRS – a collective of 3 dudes who provide three versions of their take, bringing a more upfront House snap to the track and rounding things out quite nicely with some soulful key work to pair with the vocal.

Out this July on Cha Cha Project Records.

Artist Quote – “Let It Go is a conversation with God declaring his omnipotence and commanding you to give your hurts, sorrows, and worries over to Him. God is declaring that whatever it is that you are facing, that His love will be there to see you through. – Maurice Smith”
